Marinette County Industrial Development Corporation

For Business Start-Ups and Existing Business Expansion

Marinette County Industrial Development Corporation (MCIDC) was established in 1990 to oversee a Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) that was funded by Marinette County. As Marinette County businesses were awarded Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), Marinette County received the payments and thus the CDBG-RLF was created, also under the oversight of MCIDC.

The purpose of MCIDC is to:

  • Promote and improve the business climate in Marinette County, Wisconsin, through the administration of the Marinette County Revolving Loan Fund;
  • Stimulate and leverage the flow of private investment funds from banks, investment houses, insurers, and other financial institutions to industrial development projects in Marinette County, Wisconsin;
  • Preserve and enhance the tax base of Marinette County, Wisconsin;
  • Promote, attract, stimulate, rehabilitate and revitalize business in Marinette County, Wisconsin;
  • Foster and expand existing business and industrial development projects in Marinette County, Wisconsin;
  • Establish an economic climate that will encourage and attract new business and industry;
  • Engage in any lawful act or activity which may be necessary or appropriate for carrying out and accomplishing any of the foregoing objectives or purposes.

MCABI is retained to administer the two RLF’s.

Rural Development GemStar Micro Loan Program

For Small Business Start-Ups and Existing Business Expansion

The USDA Rural Development has funded a micro loan program in Marinette and Florence Counties.

The purpose of the GemStar Micro Loan is to provide access to training and credit for very small businesses not adequately served through the traditional financing system. This program is open to any business located in Marinette or Florence Counties. The loans range from $2,500 to $10,000.

The GemStar program is a partnership between MCABI, NWTC and Florence County Economic Development Commission.

City of Marinette

The City of Marinette has several incentives for business and industry that include: a Business Development Loan Program, MAEDC Grant Program, Facade Improvement Program, Industrial Revenue Bonds and Tax Incremental Financing. Contact the Mayor’s office at 715-732-5120 for more information.

City of Peshtigo

The City of Peshtigo has two revolving loan funds for business and industry: the Urban Development Action Grant (UDAG) Revolving Loan Fund and the Peshtigo Economic Development Revolving Loan Fund (WDF). Contact the Mayor’s office for more information at 715-582-3041.
